  3. This contest is for individual performers only.
  4. This is an amateur competition. You are considered amateur if you are not under contract with a national recording contractor. Persons who entertain are allowed to compete as long as it is part-time income and that person does not belong to any professional organization connected with the entertainment industry. 5. No musical instruments can be used in the competition such as guitars, drums, etc.
  6. All types of music are allowed, please use discretion if picking songs with foul language, or you could be asked to choose a different song or get disqualified. Remember song choice is very important. Contestants may choose any song from the karaoke playbooks to sing, or bring in their own original CD+G karaoke lyrics if the DJ permits it. Audience response is important, be sure to choose the right song for the venue. Song choice is first come, first serve, no song repeats.
  7. All contestants must be ready to perform when the karaoke DJ calls them. Contestants will be drawn in random order and contestants that are not available in a timely matter risk disqualification due to the flow of competition.

  11. Some venues will have judges and some will go by audience vote. Each voting venue will pass out ballots to the patrons before the contest starts and each patron will have a chance to vote for their favorite singer. One vote per patron per night. Once the competition starts ballots will not be handed out. You must be in the establishment to receive a ballot and vote. Any fraudulent entries or ballot stuffing in the voting process will result in disqualification.
  12. Contestants are responsible for watching the website for their dates when they need to compete again. In the event you cannot make one of the rounds you will have to forfeit your spot. Make sure you fill out the information for pre registration or at the venue with full name and address and phone number in case we need to reach you. Neither Halfway Jam or the hosting venue are responsible for contestants who miss a competition.
  13. In the event of a tie, there will be a sing off. All decisions are final.
  14. Bar staff, DJs, or any other employees of the establishment are not allowed to compete at their location. They may compete at a different establishment.
  15. One winner will advance each night of the completion at each venue and move on to the next round. (Some venues may choose more then one winner each night depending on how many contestants register.)
